Super Bowl XLVI Champions
This team was never mentioned in the league's elite this season. Regardless of their successes, they were never truly considered to be a Super Bowl contender until they beat the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the playoffs, and even then, they were still huge underdogs against the Green Bay Packers. After beating the Packers, the world started to realize that the Giants really could go all the way. After going to San Francisco and beating the 49ers for the NFC Championship, the Giants headed to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl with all the momentum in the world.
From an outsider's perspective, it seems like this team never lost their focus. In spite of a mid-season four game losing streak, it seems like the Giants held their heads high and kept moving toward their goal. As much as I didn't think the Giants had the ability to even make the playoffs in them, they proved me wrong, and I have never been happier to admit it.
Everybody wrote them off this year, myself included. It matters not. What does matter is that the New York Giants went on one of the most remarkable runs in the history of sports and showed what it truly means to never give up. Call them what you want, whether it be lucky, good, or a combination of the two. I'll call them what they truly are: World Champions.
